Parent FAQ

Will my child be asked to talk about personal experiences?

No. Children are never required or encouraged to share personal experiences or private information.

Lessons focus on general discussion using stories, examples, and guided conversations so that children can learn about emotions without feeling pressured to speak about personal situations.

Who delivers the sessions?

All sessions are delivered by your child’s teacher or school staff within the classroom.

Teachers guide the lessons using the IMATTA JR materials while maintaining their usual classroom structure and safeguarding oversight.

Is IMATTA JR therapy?

No.

IMATTA JR is an educational wellbeing programme, not therapy, counselling, or clinical treatment.

It helps children learn about emotions and relationships through classroom learning rather than individual intervention.

What if my child prefers not to speak in discussions?

That is completely fine.

Children are able to participate by listening and observing, and there is no pressure for them to speak if they do not feel comfortable doing so.

Many children learn simply by hearing ideas shared in the classroom.

How long are the sessions?

Sessions typically last around 30 minutes and take place during the normal school timetable.

This allows emotional wellbeing learning to fit naturally within the school day.

Will parents receive information about what children are learning?

Some schools may share information about the programme so parents understand what children are learning in class.

This helps families continue conversations at home using the same simple language introduced in school.
